Dear Parents and Carers,

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, we are once again preparing for our annual Wear It Green Day, taking place this year on Thursday 14th May. For the past three years, staff and Sixth Form students have joined me in wearing green to spark conversations around mental health and to help normalise talking openly about wellbeing. This simple visual cue has been a powerful way to encourage younger students to ask questions and begin conversations naturally.

With this year’s national theme being “Take Action”, we are extending Wear It Green Day to include Years 7–10. This will be a non school uniform TAG Day, and all students are encouraged to wear something green—whether that’s a full outfit or just a small accessory—to show their support and take part in raising awareness.

Unfortunately, as the nationally scheduled date for Wear It Green Day falls during the Year 11 exam period, students in Year 11 who are sitting exams will need to remain in full school uniform on this day. The good news is that the kilt already includes green, so they will still be part of the event in spirit. In addition, with study leave approaching, Year 11 students will have upcoming opportunities to be out of uniform on the days they choose to study from home.

Our aim is to turn the school into a sea of green, and we would love your support in helping every student feel included. From Tuesday next week, we will be collecting donations of any unwanted green clothing or accessories. These items will be used to create a pop up Green Shop running Monday–Wednesday during Mental Health Awareness Week (w/b 11th May). Students from any year group will be welcome to come along and choose something green to wear on the 14th. Items will be available free of charge, although voluntary donations can be made and will go directly into our charity collection for the event.

In addition, donations for Wear It Green Day can be made via Wisepay from Monday 11th May.

We hope this expanded event helps strengthen our whole school commitment to supporting mental health, encouraging open conversations, and taking positive action together.

Thank you in advance for your generosity and support.

Kind regards,

Mrs Ashley Hagedorn
