As the academic year draws to a close, we are looking forward to celebrating one final international event in our school calendar.

On 14 July, people across France celebrate Bastille Day (La Fête Nationale), the French National Day. While we may not be able to recreate the famous military parade along the Champs-Élysées or the spectacular fireworks over Paris, we are excited to mark the occasion with a range of fun activities in school. During the week, our usual language lessons will take on a Bastille Day theme, giving students the opportunity to learn more about French culture, history and traditions.

We also hope that many students will choose to take part in the following activities:

Non-Uniform Day

Students are invited to wear something red, white and blue to celebrate the colours of the French flag. There is absolutely no expectation to buy anything new or special for the occasion. As always, we ask that students dress appropriately for school, avoiding crop tops, spaghetti straps, or very short shorts, skirts or dresses.

Bastille Day Treasure Trail

At lunchtime, students can take part in a treasure trail around the school, solving clues and answering questions all about Bastille Day. Not only will they discover fascinating facts along the way, but there will also be prizes for the best entries.

A Taste of France

Our canteen will be offering a selection of French-inspired snacks and delicacies at break and lunchtime. (Don't worry—there will be no snails or frog's legs on the menu!)

We hope that many of our students will embrace the celebrations and enjoy this opportunity to experience a little French culture before the summer holidays.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support throughout the year. We wish you and your families a wonderful, restful and enjoyable summer break.

Kind regards / Sincères salutations,

Mrs Lauren Dale
