World Book Day 2026
FSG will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March!
On this day, we invite all students to come dressed up as their favourite book character. This will be a competition and as such, if students choose to take part, the fancy dress needs to be clear, and it must not be every day, casual clothing. As this is optional, if students do not wish to dress up, then they must come to school in their school uniform. The winner and runner-up of the fancy dress competition will be announced on the day and both will receive a prize.
To get World Book Day ‘rolling’ we are also inviting students to create their favourite book character using a toilet roll tube. If your child decides to take part, please ask them to deliver their creations to S1 by 8:40 in the morning on Thursday 5th March. These will be judged, and a prize will be awarded to a KS3 and KS4 entry. The two winners will be announced the following week.
World Book Day vouchers to spend on books are being distributed in English lessons. Students should also bring a suitable book of their choosing to read during tutor time throughout the week beginning Monday 2nd March.
We look forward to celebrating the joy of reading and seeing all the different character outfits and competition entries.
