National Theatre Connections - Cloud Busting
Tickets are available for this year's Connections Show 'Cloud Busting' and can be purchased on Wisepay. Tickets are priced at £5 and the shows take place at 6pm on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th February.
The Folkestone School for Girls has a fantastic history in participating in Connections, the National Theatre's nationwide youth theatre festival, since we first entered the competition two years ago. The first play we produced 'Back in the Day' in 2024 was completely student led and was selected as the winning play by the National Theatre and consequently performed to a full house at The Dorfman Theatre at the National in London as part of the prize. Our second entrance was the ensemble piece ' No Regrets' which was once again entirely student led and another stunning piece of theatre and although the play did not win the competition, Arabella did win the 'Best Actress in a Play' category at The National School Theatre Awards Ceremony at the Gillian Lynne Theatre in London's West End.
This year's play has once again been completely produced by the students, including set design, sound and lighting design, costume and prop making and has also been organised and created by students. The logo for the flyer has been designed and created by a student and the marketing around the school has also been student led. The full student company ranges across students from all year groups, and they will perform the play on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th February at 6pm in the main school hall. Tickets are priced at £5 and are available on Wisepay.
This year's show is a youth-focused play written by Helen Blakeman and based on the novel by Malorie Blackman. The play explores themes of friendship, bullying, and individuality as a boy named Sam stands up for his unique peer, Davey. The play is known for its ensemble work and emotional, coming-of-age themes. It is a powerful piece of modern storytelling and we hope that you will join us in celebrating the students work by joining us next week for one of the two performances.
