European Week of Languages 2025

The MFL department are proud to present a series of events this week to celebrate the European Day of Languages.

We are kicking off the week with a Bake Off competition - students have baked cakes reflecting different traditions, architecture, landscapes, flags and even national dress! Prizes will be awarded, and students will be able to take their cakes home at the end of Monday 22nd September.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday staff and students who speak languages other than English will have the opportunity to teach a lesson at lunchtime, so that everyone can learn something new.  Students will be able to choose from Polish, Turkish, Arabic, German, Danish, Ukranian, Russian, Greek, Chinese, French and British Sign Language.  Timetables have been shown in tutor time, will be on all MFL google classrooms and posters showing the times are displayed in Penfold.
