FSG Cadets visit Whitehall
A small group of Cadets from around the country were selected to meet dignitaries and politicians in recognition of National Cadet Week in London.
We are very proud of the two cadets who represented FSG at the event. They took part in workshops with leaders to discuss their cadet experiences, and to help shape the future of cadets as they seek to expand.
Our students have written about the experience they had in the heart of government below:
As part of the first national Cadet Week, myself and one of FSG's Cdt Sgts were picked to visit the MOD along with other cadets from across the country. We had the opportunity to share out cadet experience with the Secretary of State for Defence, along with the Minister for Veterans and People and the Minister for Defence Procurement. I appreciated being able to share my opinion about the future of Cadets, and it was special to see the people wanting to help more young people have the opportunities that we have found so valuable.
We had the amazing opportunity to engage in talks with a variety of Defence ministers, including Wes Streeting, about our personal experiences during our time at Cadets, but also to propose what we think the MoD could do to improve Cadets in the future. It was very fulfilling to hear how much the ministers cared about cadets, and how much they wanted to invest in the future of the British Army. Another part of our experience was to the Department for Education, where we worked as a team with other cadets to propose ideas surrounding enrichment in schools and CCFs.
