European Day of Languages 2026
During the week beginning Monday 21st September, we will be celebrating the European Day of Languages in our school. This is one of the many opportunities to celebrate the diversity of our school community.
We would like to invite all students to take part actively in our celebrations and there are lots of things you could do:
Enter the European Day of Languages competitions:
- Bake Off Competition! The date for this is Monday 28th September. You will need to bake a cake at the weekend, and bring it in school first thing on Monday. No-one in school will eat or try the cake - so it’s all about looks, but you might want to have a nibble afterwards! You will need to collect your cake by the end of school on that day.
If you would like to be a cake please register your interest by filling in the appropriate Google form, which you can find on Google Classroom. - T-shirt logo drawing competition! Please note that this is a nationwide competition and we will be sending your entries on your behalf, Mrs Motley will send you more detail in due time if you are willing to take part. Please fill in the appropriate Google form, which you can find on Google Classroom, if you are interested.
You might want to TEACH
a new language to other students in school (it can be a language you have learnt by yourself or a language you speak at home): it will be a 20 mins session in an MFL classroom, you will have access to the teacher’s computer and board as well as mini whiteboards, pens and paper if needed.
If you would like to get involved, please fill in the Google forms on Google Classroom by the end of Wednesday 16th September.
You might want to LEARN
a new language: once we have heard back about who would like to teach and
when we will send you the final information about what on offer ( there will also be timetables of the sessions displayed around Penfold and the Foyer in Main school) to let you know where and when the sessions will take place....and you will just have to turn up.
